Welcome to First Church of Christ, Scientist in Grand Haven, Michigan.
Christian Science is based on the teachings and healing ministry of Jesus Christ. Members apply the spiritual truths from the Bible to the problems of today. Healing and harmony are the natural and expected outcomes of prayer. Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, wrote that “The vital part, the heart and soul of Christian Science, is Love” (SH 113:5–6).
Sunday Service
You are warmly invited to attend our one hour service beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Our services include music, singing, scriptural readings, prayer, and a sermon. The sermon is based on a weekly Bible lesson from our Pastor: the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, a book written by Mary Baker Eddy.
Sunday School
The Sunday School is held during the same hour as our Sunday church service, starting at 10:30 a.m.
All children and young adults up to the age of 20 are welcome in our Christian Science Sunday School. Students and their families do not need to be Christian Scientists to attend Sunday School.
Students learn how to pray and turn to God for all their needs. Early lessons include the Ten Commandments, the Lord’s Prayer and the Sermon on the Mount, along with many other Bible stories. Older students continue their Bible study while learning how prayer is a practical way to see and feel the presence of God in their lives.
Wednesday Testimony Meeting
Please join us for a one hour testimony meeting at 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday meetings are similar to the Sunday services. The first half of the meeting consists of scriptural readings, and in the second half of the meeting, fellow attendees share insights, experiences, and healings they’ve had as a result of their prayer and study of Christian Science.

Reading Room
Everyone is welcome to visit our Reading Room. We are open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A Reading Room is similar to a library or bookstore. It’s a space where you may:
- purchase Bibles and other spiritual literature
- find spiritual solutions to everyday problems
- study the weekly Bible lesson and nurture a connection with God
- ask questions to learn more about Christian Science

History
In October 1910, a small group that had been studying Christian Science met to organize a Christian Science Society in Grand Haven. In July 1924 members incorporated as First Church of Christ, Scientist, Grand Haven and were so recognized by The Mother Church in Boston, MA.
